5.7 % rise in global NR output forecast

The IRSG predicts the global NR production to rise by 5.7% to 10.2 million tonnes in 2010. In 2011, the output is expected to continue growing at a similar rate, with global NR production reaching 10.7 million tonnes.
With NR production expected to expand by 5.6% in 2011, compared to consumption growth of 4.6%, the modest deficit of -35,000 tonnes implied by the 2010 forecasts is expected to become a 68,000 tonnes surplus in 2011.
Meanwhile, the Association of Natural Rubber Producing Countries (ANRPC) has lowered its forecast for growth in global natural rubber supply this year to 5.2% from 6.1% predicted in May. Improvement in short-term supply will be limited due to climate constraints and the unfavourable age structure of existing trees, the ANRPC has noted.
